Seminars Jocelyn Sery
Our dear brother Jocelyn & his wife Claudie arrived last Monday to spend a very exciting week with the church in Bournemouth. His program: a 3-day seminar and 4 days of youth camp!
Proverbs 4:23 “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” He started by sharing about the importance of the ministry of the Holy Spirit and that the different ministries at work in the church reveals the heart of God; the revelation of the Gospel sets the heart of the Christian free.
He shared how we need to make sure our hearts are pure for God to speak, work, and reveal Himself in order for us to see the plan of God for our lives.
Hebrews 3:7-9 “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested and tried Me”.
Brother Jocelyn warned us about the danger of hardening our hearts when we hear the Gospel, and in verse 12 about having an “unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God”.
He explained that when we harden our hearts, we start walking under law, and the law deals with our acts & those of others around us, whereas when our heart is soft, we are under grace, which sees and deals with the heart.
The cross has connected our hearts to the heart of God. Isaiah 57:15 says even though God is the “High and Lofty One, Who inhabits eternity” he still connects with humble and contrite in heart, this is the heart of Grace towards us.
John 15:1-8 “If anyone does not abide in Me…..” Jocelyn explained that God gives us the choice to abide in Him, and it is the message of the cross of Jesus Christ that helps us to abide in Him by the death of the flesh. Our protection is to be connected to the vine, which is: Christ and Him crucified, for us to bear fruits of life.
He also stressed on the importance of being connected amongst ourselves, in fellowship, as this is another way to feel the heart of God for us and to grow into maturity.
It has been a real blessing to have brother Jocelyn & Claudie with us!
