Church Visit Bournemouth – Jocelyn Sery

March 2023

Jocelyn shared a powerful message, reading from John 17:1-19 where Jesus prays before being arrested and then crucified, stating He had accomplished what the Father had sent Him to do.

Jesus goes on to pray for us, His church given by the Father to Him.

John 17:6 – ”I have manifested Your Name to the people whom You have given Me out of the world.  They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have obeyed and kept Your word.”

Everything Jesus shared was in view of the cross, he had to accomplish all that was written; it was a precise work.

Jocelyn encouraged us to accept the truth as it is and not to try  and seek something else.  No compromise.  We need the truth to build the church, it changes lives.  The Lord is Faithful to do His work in us!

If we stand for truth, we will gain our salvation.  If we take our eyes off the cross, we will not see the truth.  It is the truth of the Gospel that sanctifies us.

Jocelyn read from John 17:17 and explained that to find the truth we need the word of God.

He went on to say that we cannot make the gospel something modern.  The word of God never changes, only we change.

What is the truth?  What are are we living in this church?  Jesus asked the Father to sanctify us by HIS truth.  God’s word is truth.  We are sanctified by the truth.

We read from 1.John.1:1-10. Everything is clear in Him, we need to practice the truth to walk in the light.  The truth is revealed in His death and resurrection.

We also read from EPH.4:17-24; EPH.4:1-3

Jocelyn continued on the topic of truth and shared from Gal.5:7.  The truth is something very serious and we have to run with truth, not our own race or we could be disqualified.  We need to run with the truth of the gospel.

Jocelyn encouraged us to be obedient to the truth, not simply discuss or debate it. If we are looking for the truth we will find it.  Full stop.  The truth must be obeyed.

If we are thirsty for the truth and cry out for a revelation of it, the Lord will reveal the mystery of the Gospel.  We cannot allow the smallest thing to hinder the whole truth.

We read about sanctification by the Spirit in 2 Thes. 2:13 and our belief in the truth.  We need both.

1.Cor.1:18. We are BEING saved.  Until we leave this world, we are being saved.  We need to be vigilant and alive in the Spirit so we can accept what we are told.

2.Thes.2:9-12. Hold fast the truth – an attitude of the heart.
